UseTemp is built to hold as little about you as possible — and to hold it briefly.
There are no user accounts, so we never ask for your name, real email address, or password. To make this work, your browser stores a secret key for each of your temporary addresses; our server keeps only a scrambled fingerprint of that key, never the key itself. Incoming mail is stored on our own servers so it can be shown in your inbox, and it is deleted automatically after 24 hours. Basic technical records (IP addresses are kept only as scrambled hashes) are kept as needed for safety and to stop misuse.
When you delete an address, it and its emails are deleted from our server right away. Emails are deleted automatically 24 hours after they arrive, whether you have read them or not, and addresses expire 10 days after they are created — using one does not extend that time. Each inbox keeps only the newest 50 messages. Your addresses are not linked to who you are. One exception: abuse-protection records — a scrambled hash of your connection and the type of event, never message contents — are kept as long as needed to stop misuse and have no automatic expiry.
Temporary inboxes open with the secret key stored in your browser — if someone gets into your browser, they could see what is in it. Do not receive anything sensitive, financial, or personal on a UseTemp address.
UseTemp is free, and the ads on this site help pay for it. Our advertising partners may set and read cookies in your browser and collect basic technical information (such as device type and approximate location) to show and measure their ads. We never give advertisers your temporary addresses or the contents of any inbox. You can block or delete cookies — including third-party advertising cookies — in your browser settings, and opt out of interest-based advertising through your browser or device settings; the site works the same either way.
